This is a update of my last thread on Old Hickory Lake record fish :http://www.fishingtn.com/showthread.php?t=11180
Since relocating to Hendersonville some years back every spring I have been catching quite a few Crappie and the last few years been catching some good sized ones.... got me thinking how big do they actually get on Old Hickory Lake?.
So I check on the records and see it's 2lb 1.6oz ... I didn't quite get one that big but I came close : 8533
It measured 16" and weighed in at 1lb 14.6oz. ..... oh well, I'll keep on tryin':)

It's hard to believe the lake record isn't bigger. Hell I've caught 3 over 15 1/2" bass fishing just this year. Had one just over 16" last year bass fishing as well. Congrats on your catch. Hopefully you will find one just about 5 oz bigger.

There's some big crappie in OH for sure but from my experience the black crappie grow bigger biggest one to date was 16 1/4 and I wish I had a scale it was a plump fall crappie that was easily pushing 2lb or some over. What's yall's take on old hickorys white crappie vs blacks in terms of bign's

I just updated my profile and included a link to my site for anyone that may be interested about my style of fishing and some general info about H'ville and the lake...... Here's one more picture showing the difference between a 14.5" and a 16" crappie. What a difference 1.5" makes : http://i1228.photobucket.com/albums/ee455/unkangler/DSCN5881%20-%20Copy_zpsgndgwcn2.jpg

Very nice! I would have guessed the lake record was bigger than that too. I've caught two whites that were close to 16.75" on Ole Hick.
In my personal experience, the whites I've caught were considerably larger than blacks on average.

Hey you did say your wife thinks a six incher is a nine incher. You meant bluegill but either way that is to your advantage!

Yeah. I told her to plant some shrubs 30 inches apart so I could mow between them. Can't even get the weed eater between them.
She does have small hands which gives the illusion of holding a larger object.
