Decided to hit up the mid to upper section of cheatham lake today from 7 to 3 and man o man was it an incredible day the water temp, flow and skies were perfect, water was 66-68 which is prime time anywhere you go but we managed around 60 fish between me and my buddy fishing 1/8 oz and 1/16 oz jigs with 2" & 3" tripple ripple grubs. We caught a lot of nice smallies 8"-17" and a lot of nice chunky spots, one that came off by the boat was easily 18" a TARP spot that sucked :( but we also caught some of the darkest and biggest rock bass ive ever seen and landed, I finally landed a 10" trophy TARP rockie which makes it my fifth trophy tarp fish to date and we caught about 10 more over 8"! We also landed several channel cats, multiple drum, bluegill, green sunfish, a 14" true shad and a 18" skippie, a nice 16" white bass and the wierdiest catch of the day was a rainbow trout caught off the bluff near shelby park! That trout swam 25+ miles from being stocked this winter below jpp I couldn't belive it when I brought it to the surface I was in disbelief i guess if they swim to the Cumberland from center hill dam why not from below jpp to the Cumberland. Also saw a another wierd find a whole boat trailer with tires and all just sitting on the bank lol its amazing what you can find sometimes on the river I even found a 16ft old town canoe floating down the river one day in the middle of nowhere.
Till next time good luck and happy fishing everyone

I love catching those rock bass! They put up such a power fight for their size. Congrats on the catch. I know a bunch of guys who actually go and catch them bows near Shelby park, it's crazy huh

Yea man its definitely crazy I guess they find some deep holes in the summer but im still curious if they will hold over, and with old hickory installing new generators that will create more oxygen in the river we might have a new tailwater trout fishery lol prob not but you never know weirder things have happened. I had three firsts that trip 1st rock bass in the river, 1st green sunfish in the river and 1st rainbow in the main stem of the cumberland
