More Hybrids and a Personal Best

I got out of work early surprisingly so there was only one thing to do, rush home, load up, and follow the Hybrid migration so I can do some grocery shopping. Last report was from the middle of the lake. This time they were much further North. Still not way up in the coves yet. I found all mine in 20 feet of water suspended 7-10 feet and so much shad that I kept snagging them with a single jighead and swimbait rig.

This one was almost 23 inches and I was taking with a guy out there who had a Boga so he let me weigh it. 8 pounds even! That's a personal best for me. I also kept a 21 incher that weighed 6 pounds. The fish are really fat, just how I like them. Water temp hovered around 60. I also caught an 18" Hybrid and I don't even remember how many white bass. I couldn't keep them off. It was a fantastic afternoon of fishing. Everything caught on a SUMKINA Bubble Belly swimbait.

Not sure how I want to cook these yet but I'm sure I'll come up with something good, I always do! Tight lines and God bless.

Nice fish! There are some hybrids shallow. I caught 2 today in Hamilton creek while bass fishing. Both were in about 5 fow. One was just over 5 and the other 7.5. Caught one on a football jig of all things. The other on a lipless crankbait

I like anything they will hit! lmao.
Ive had my personal best luck throwing lipless baits, like academy sports version of the red eye shad.
You can burn it up high when they are active, work it like a swim jig when they are suspended and you can rip it off bottom and let it sink back down when they are in a slower feeding mood.
Topwater i like the 3" super spook juniors. Casts like a missle to cover lots of water.

I tell ya what tho.. that bigger jumping minnow top water is a necessity it seems like. so much so I went out and got 3 of them just for backup.

i caught 3 nice hybrids off one spot with a tx rig senko. they thumped it just like a bass. have always heard you can catch them with chicken livers.

I read about chicken livers all the time. Wonder why?

That's what they use fishing from the bank around the dam. I've seen them spray WD-40 on the livers too. I thought they were insane until I I saw them catch a few.

Livers were fine bait the few times I fished for them at Williamsport. I would catch hybrids on liver and channel cats on tuffy minnows. Who would have thought?

When im crappie fishing, i always take my dead minnows and thread 4-5 on a bass hook for cats....works like a charm! Dead minnows and live shiners have been my best cat bait on priest that ive used so far.

I catch lots of channel cats while crappie fishing. I just use jigs but usually end up with 1 or 2 out off stake beds or tree tops while fishing shallow. The pic. Is from the other day crappie fishing. Not a good pic but the cat is on the right in the livewell.

I've heard the reason for this is because at the hatcheries they're fed turkey and chicken livers. They're released in the lakes as fingerlings so even after several years of growing and learning to hunt for shad, they still remember the taste of those livers they had as a baby.

Makes sense! i can think of lots of other lake creatures that im sure taste alot better than a nasty, slimy, goopy chicken liver though! LOL.
but instincts are instincts i guess! LOL
