Whites at Pickwick

Arrived at Pickwick and started fishing at 9:45 a.m. A much longer drive now that I live in Murfreesboro.....but Pickwick is a special place to me. It took me a while to find the white bass...but once i did and got the pattern it was game on. They were holding in the rocks on a ledge that dropped from 9 feet to 19 feet. If you didn't bump the rocks with your jig they weren't having any part of it. All fish caught on a Bison colored Trout Magnet using a 3/32 jig head with a #8 hook. The rod was a Yamaga Blanks Blue Current 6' 10" TZ Jig Head Special. The reel was a Daiwa Certate 2004CH spooled with SOS 2# test line. I caught about 2 dozen chunky Gills at about the 8 inch mark....the big boys are waiting on warmer water to come out and play. Caught 65 white bass with most being sows full of eggs. It was a lot of fun with the UL rod. They would hit and head for the deeper water on other side of boat...they were really digging today. In the pic of the bank you can see where the gravel runs into the water. I put the trolling motor on spot lock and stayed in same spot until I pulled out to head home. Going to hit somewhere again in the morning. Life is good!

Thanks Travis. Spot lock in current is so good it is scary.....it is very good in wind. If you are on calm flat water it will keep you on the spot but the trolling motor acts as the pivot point of the boat...the bow may or may not be pointed the direction when you set it. But it does keep you on the spot but the direction of the bow will most likely always change. In a good steady wind it will keep you on the spot...bow facing where you set it at. The key to using spot lock is to be at a dead stop when you engage it. It is a very valuable tool for me.
