Saturday morning I hit JPP around the middle of the lake to do some grocery shopping. I got this nice fat hybrid on a SUMKINA Bubble Belly swimbait in white. Also had one that felt like it was equally as big break me off. I was shocked, I haven't had a fish break off in a long time. I'm super careful as to not let that happen.

The fish moved out and I had to paddle almost 3 miles away to find another active group. Finished my limit of Hybrids on the same lure and headed home to prepare for my first attempt at fish tacos. The verdict - outstanding. I can't believe they came out so well on my first attempt. My wife loved them too. I think it was the special sauce I made up that really did the trick.

I also went out yesterday afternoon and found some smaller 15-17" fish but nothing big enough to want to fillet so I tossed them back.

All fish caught in 20-30' of water suspended anywhere from 7-15'. Water temps yesterday hit 59.

No sir. That's a fish taco that I used lettuce for instead of a taco shell. I don't eat any wheat so the typical tortilla/taco shell is a no-no. That did get kind of messy and it turned into fish with all the toppings on it, minus the lettuce and plus a glass of bourbon.

Bourbon..... usually involves barley, wheat or rye..... I did Tacos a while back and the wife loved it. I was highly disappointed that I did not get to go to the lake Saturday. Good catches by the way

Use white corn tortillas. I have Celiac so my tacos shell/tortilla are always corn.

The distilling process removes any gluten (the part of barley, wheat or rye) that causes most people problems.

Yep. That's why I can sip my whiskey or bourbon with no problem. Eating any product with wheat flour is a big problem though.

Made batter with tapioca flour, egg, water, salt, cayenne, and paprika. Then I fried them in coconut oil.

Did not know that. Why did I never hear of these Gluten free people growing up? Seems like a new thing in the last few years.

Born and raised 18 years in south Florida...so yeah I'm from the North sort of haha. Quit hating on my fish tacos. They were delicious and like I stated before, I used lettuce because wheat destroys me and we didn't have any corn tacos nor did we care to go out and get any.

Dont be jealous of my culinary skill. Flour and peanut oil doesn't cut it in our kitchen. :D

I like to blacken my fish if I do taco's. That's how I did the Sauger and it was fantastic. I will say Jimmy makes so good lookin fish, I assume tasty too.

Tacos are my favorite way to eat hybrid/striper. I usually either blacken or grill them. Whitt's Cole Slaw is my secret ingredient. Shhhh...don't tell anyone.

Nice catch!

I have had problems since I was a teenager. I just didn't know what was causing the problem. New test have been developed determine that gluten is the problem. Wish I had known many years ago. My gluten problem lead to my non-hodgkin's lymphoma. It is all an auto immune problem. Gluten allergies are a serious problem. Ignored they can lead to cancer.

It's definitely dominated by hipsters who don't really know anything about gluten, where it comes from, or why it's "bad for you". They just want to be a part of a movement all the time and be obnoxious about it.

I've read books about eliminating grains from your diet and read countless scientific studies on the topic. It seemed to make sense to me although I was not going to like getting rid of bread, pizza, pasta, cereal, etc. Every once in a while I accidentally get something not knowingly, usually from a restaurant, and I pay the price for it. If it isn't the gluten specifically it could be the scary amount of chemical pesticide residue still present in the grain even after processing that is wreaking havoc on peoples GI tracts.

It's been almost 5 years now grain free. To replace the carbs grains would give me, I eat about 3 pounds of sweet potatoes a week to keep up with my level of physical activity. I started noticing problems about 5 years ago and no longer have those issues.

If I ate 3 lbs of sweet potatoes a week my level of physical activity would increase just in trips to the toilet alone.

Cram a tube up my ass and toss the other end over board and I could propel a kayak for miles.

If that's what you're into that's none of my business but please keep that off the forum.
