so all the bass tourney guys were out friday and i noticed a fairly common theme. Red Rods.
Kinda hard to miss them, like the Skeets and Duckett rods.
who is making the red rods that everybody is using? Just curious!

those could be! i would bet that 1 out of every 3 boats that i seen in passing, or fishing, of the 2 guys in the boat, one would be using one of those red rods. you could see that shine and color from a good distance off.
I was just curious if that/those were the latest and greatest rods for the 2016 year.
they are pretty! LOL

I don't think they are the latest and greatest. They have been out for a few years I think. Price point is around 50 bucks a rod. I think they usually run those along with the skeete reese rods on sale at the fishing show usually.

The could be the Lowrider 20's from Falcon since they were tourney guys.

When I browse the rod and reel section I am rather disappointed. Personally, I like subdued rods and reels...not fancy pink, red, orange, yellow, white or any other combo... just plain graphite, black, blue-grey or other basic color's, same with reels. I don't need skittles just performance for a modest price.

i hear ya! just give me quality at an affordable price. Why should i pay for pro fisherman X to get free advertising from a flashy rod or reel.
but thats what guys want i guess, so thats what they are going to make.

I fish a lot at night and use the Abu Garcia Veritas rods, which are white. Makes them stand out on the deck of the boat so they won't get stepped on by a few clumsy anglers lol.

I'm sure you'll see an abundance of white rods the way they flew out of bass pro shops during the spring sale!!!

I want even buy the new G-Loomis because of the yellow/lime green stuff rather purchase the next level up to get Blue, Black, Green or Brown.

This is about as plain Jane as it gets for looks....it is just as the pic shows....all black. Weighs a mere 2 ounces...sensitivity and performance is off the charts....however, modestly priced it is not....if it was I would have about 3 more.

They aren't. I ordered it out of Japan. I started out with 29 dollar UL rods and eventually worked my way up to Loomis and Phenix rods. Then heard about the great rods for the Japanese market and decided to give it a try. The high end rods out of Japan are something to behold. But one doesn't have to get the high end to have a great rod. A 150 dollar rod out of Japan is far better than a 200 dollar Loomis Trout rod. Since I started using the high end rods I have a serious addiction to buying them. Since all my fishing is finesse these rods are right up my alley. The guy that rigged my boat for me would not take any money so I ordered him a rod just like the one in the pic.....couldn't have him do the work for nothing. He was a very happy man. If you see me out on the water sometime just wave me down and we can talk fishing gear.

im sure they are great rods, the weight of the rod is insane. Im sure i would love it if i ever put one in my hand, but whew! lol.
i dont want anybody to get offended by my price comments if they use whatever brand rod, im not dogging those brands either, obviously GLoomis makes a fine product, but personally, i just dont think i could spend over $100 on a rod and thats really pushing it for me.

Oh I'm not offended at all. Each step I made up in rods through the years my rear twitched a little....LOL. I don't buy these just because they are expensive. As I moved up the ladder in rods there was always a noticeable difference...to the good. When I bought my first JDM rod for 150 bucks I was blown away by the quality of the rod and sensitivity. So I took a leap and jumped up to the rods in the 200 dollar mark. I was also blown away by them. Then I got into the 300 dollar and above. Those rods are so far off the charts you can't explain it. While I will not say they will catch me more fish I will say I feel bites that I would have never felt before. I have such a passion for UL fishing and these rods take it to a new high for me. As someone on the Tackle Tour site said "You can't explain a JDM rod until someone has held it in their hands". That is so true. I save and budget for each one of these rods. I am not getting any younger and am really enjoying my fishing more than ever. Other than the JDM trout rod that I have these rods are designed to catch fish that are so small they weigh only a couple of ounces. When these fish bite it is my understanding that one can barely feel it....thus they created these great rods just to feel the that slightest tick. Not saying I want buy any more but I think I have bought my last one....LOL.

I stopped using expensive rods when my kids starting fishing with me. I have found they break or sink exactly like the cheap ones. And I am just as bad at breaking them as my kids are. :p
I like the johnny morris tourney specials, i bought 5 on sale at $30 a piece.

I just broke the Tip off on my Omen Saturday. It hurt a little inside. Alpha I would love to feel the difference in those rods.

I bet it did hurt. Welcome to try one anytime you see me around on the water. Hoping Normandy can get back down to fishable levels soon.

That's what I just told Jimmy. It's dropping a couple hundred CFS every day. Maybe by Sunday it will be somewhere around 200.
