No I didn't fish it....but man on man I wish I could have.
Yesterday went hiking with my beautiful wife n girls and noticed on the shallow end of the lake several pods of 2-3 bass huddled up right next to the bank. The biggest looked to be around 5lbs. There were also lots of small baitfish/bream/minnows as well.
I assume they were all warming in the shallow sun but it sure was nice to see fish for a change.
Anyone catching any big bass yet? Right now thru mid March in the past I have always started finding big fish moving up on Old Hickory.

I hit my river spot and only caught one Bass. It's tough to fish out of a yak in that kind of wind. At one point while paddling into the wind I was not moving forward, just sitting still while paddling :)

Wow, I am surprised that there are any decent fish still in there. I figured since nobody is allowed to fish Radnor, that the fish would all be stunted from overpopulation by now. I've often wondered why they don't have a raffle or something to allow winners to fish there and raise money for the park. I grew up not too far from there (used to ride dirt bikes all over those hills believe it or not) and there were some hog bass in there back then in the 70's. I remember a couple of big floods that spilled water over the dam and into otter creek, and before there were houses on Robert E Lee dr. when that happened, you could catch the escapees.

For about 8 years I hiked at Radnor Lake quite a lot, weather permitting.....last time about 4 years ago. I marveled at the bluegill I would see in there on bed while hiking in the spring. They looked like pie plates.

I grew up on Otter Creek Rd and used to catch fish in that creek all the time, grasshoppers where deadly. spent a lot of time as a kid riding my bike looking at all those big bass in Radner. Would sneak a hand line up there until a came across a big rattle snake laying on that warmed pavement one evening.

Ha! Do you think maybe the Parks association planted the rattlers there to discourage illegal fishing?. Those hills in that part of Nashville and Brentwood have always had a rattler population.

Last April I saw the biggest gills I have ever seen along those banks, and several 3-5 lb bass. It's sickening

It's a beautiful area and a shame that the lake is off limits...but probably for the best. Williamsport is pretty too, until you get up close to the bank. It's pretty discouraging to watch people litter all over the place. People flicking their cig butts into the lake. WTF? I smoke too...field dress the cherry off it and put the butt in your pocket or HERE'S AN IDEA: bring a damn walmart bag with you and throw your garbage in the can they put right there for your lazy behind.
I'm sorry for the rant, and I know the anglers here aren't the ones who need yelled at. But I totally get why they don't let people fish there in the interest of keeping it nice for everyone else. A few bad apples give anglers a bad name.

You are right. It seems most fishermen, at least from the bank are total slobs. I have lost places to fish due to the mess people leave behind. I will say that I don't smoke but I have been known to spit in the lake, can fish catch cancer from that ?
