I am thinking of purchasing a kayak this Spring. We have some small rivers in this area that would be great for late afternoon fishing trip. Please advise on what to look for and what size yak. I am not as agile as I used to be. I will be adding a trolling motor.

Look for a 11'6" or bigger with a good seat. Get a budget of around $800 or more for a new kayak. Or $400 up for a used kayak. There so many great kayak to pick from. So demo as many as you can. If you put a trolling motor on one. I would buy new. To get all the paper to get it register. Good luck

I started looking at the 13' Predators from Old Town because they have one that comes with a trolling motor available. More recently, I have discovered trolling motors that can be added to nearly any kayak. It is amazing what people put on these kayaks!

Yes it is. Like I said if you want to add a trolling motor buy new. I heard it a pain to get all the paper on a use kayak to get the registration for it.

I just noticed that Jackson Kayak is about 25 miles from my house. Do they have a showroom that I could visit? I just watched the video on the Big Rig and that looks like what I am looking for. I think there is a Bassyak trolling motor to fit those.

If you get a bill of sale when buying a used one, should not be an issue registering it as I went thru this just last month. I bought a used Nucanoe Frontier 12 with a TM already on it from someone in NC, got a bill of sale at time of sale, took it to the clerks office, a few minutes and $50 later, had my TN paperwork, 2-3 wks later, had my #'s from the state.

Since you plan on having a TM, look at the Nucanoe's, they have elevated 360 seats which may be helpful for you, very stable, can get a stand up bar for flyfishing, you're not "pinned" into one seating position, which can be low, making it difficult for older guys (like me) to move around, shift cheeks to relieve pressure points/numbness, etc.

I have a Ride 115 for sale listed here, and the only reason I'm selling it because the seating arrangement just does not work for me anymore. You can stand up in the Ride's, put a TM on them but you lose the rear "baitwell" area immediately behind the seat, or reduce it quite a bit due to the battery. The seat is comfy and has lots of adjustment, but it doesn't work for me anymore as I started getting uncomfortable after 30 minutes due to back issues. It was VERY comfy when I bought it but my back changed on me.

Kind of related to the kayak question (14 minutes in); but a great TV show produced a couple years ago:

Erick Baker is well-suited as a host for these shows. Great demeanor.

Videos are good, but the producers have yet to match some of your work! Is it time for more striper action on Tim's yet? :D

Plan on fishing this weekend. Either Stripers or Crappie.
