Crank bait rod

I've been looking at several different cranking rods. I'm wanting one that I can use for my bigger, deep runners and not wear me out within 30 cast and be comfortable fishing for long periods of time. Do any of you have a favorite cranking rod?? Suggestions on what you look for??

I'm really looking hard at the lews speed stick perfect cranking rod designed by David Fritts. Who else better to design a crank bait rod!?!? Should the rod be medium action or medium heavy? The one that I've been eyeballing is 7'6 mh but I'm curious about a medium action 7'0.

Buying rods these days is such a pain in the ass!!! Lol So many tough choices.

I have a 7'10" medium Wright & McGill skeet Reese magnum cranking rod along with the shorter cranking rod and really like them. For the money they are tough to beat. The big rod handles my 6XD's and similar plugs really well, you can toss a plug a mile too.

I just picked up an H20 express Ethos rod from academy. Micro guides and all. Mine is the medium action so it has a softer tip but it has great sensitivity. Probably not good for the bigger cranks, but the MH action was pretty sweet too. Ive been very pleased with the H20 Express gear i have so far. (crankbaits, rain gear and now the rod).
If you have an academy sports near you, might be worth looking into. They have the Lews line as well.

I like my 7ft. St. Croix Premier crankbait rod for the small/medium cranks. I'm possibly looking at getting another crankbait rod to handle the deep divers. If you like St. Croix I know they updated the Mojo line for 2016...the mojo glass crankbait rods interest me.

The 7'10 Blaster from All Pro is what I use for cranking, it's actually one of my favorite rods. It is medium action, and I haven't found a rod that is comparable for deep cranking 14'+, their 7'7" Blaster is great for shallow cranking. They are also a company from Tennessee so it helps out our local economy.

Ive been curious about their rods. I love the rain bibs and jacket I have from them. They are great!!! And the lures are good quality and price too.

I should have said in my first post the rod has to be under $100. I can't spend more than that.

For the price I like Bass Pro cranking sticks Based on size and guides they run from 79$ to 109$. I've bought two and have had no problems.

i ended up getting one of them crankin' sticks. Now just to hurry up and wait to use it. I'm trying to decide what speed reel I want now. I have a carbonlite 5.3:1 that I think will work great, but am curious as to how hard a 6.3-6.8:1 will work me. I guess it will be a matter of preference at that point.

Depending on what type of cranking you do. The lower gear ratio works well for deep cranking, 15-25' deep. My deep cranking is a 4:9:1 ratio, it works well with the 6XD's and larger. I use a 6:3 for traps and shallow crankbaits.

That's where I'm at. I got this Rod for deep cranking so more than likely my 5:1 carbonlite will be on it. I use 6.3:1 for many applications. To me that's the most versatile gear out there.

What about Phenix rods or Powell Rods. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I've had one Powell it was an ok small swimbait rod rated up to 1oz, I ended up breaking the tip and throwing it away.

I've not used Pheonix, but I've heard a lot of good out of them along with Dobyns, and B&R Outlaw.

I was looking at trying B&R Outlaw before I went to All Pro.

If you can wait a week there will be some deals to be had at the Nashville Fishing Expo at the Fairgrounds.

I typically like a little stiffer cranking rod than most. I have two Duckett 7'6" MH. They are great at throwing my DD22/XD6

I've used the cranking stick from bass pro for years on KY lake. Now I use a medium weight carbon light bass pro for cranking. It's shallow water for the most part with current. Several good crankin' rods mentioned.
