Quantum EXO BC Reel

So i picked me up the EXO PT Reel from Cabelas yesterday....first impression is its light as a feather and compact.
They had a crazy good deal on them at $99 as opposed to the normal $249.
The only thing that worries me a little about the reel is im used to having the secondary magnetic braking system on the left side of the reel to fine tune it, and this reel does not have that. Im sensing bird nest city my first few casts.
Do any of you guys have this reel? any thoughts on it? Pro's Con's?
Its not a species specific reel or technique specific reel, i just needed a nicer bait caster, quantum makes a good one and this was a good deal so i snatched it up. lol

I also like a magnetic spool control and only have a few reels that don't offer that feature. I manage without the feature, however the Daiwa/Cabelas reels are my go to favorites. I recall Shimano was in the forefront introducing them in the 80's with the BM 1310 series which I continue to used to this day and have never rebuilt them. Quantum then produced them after Shimano ceased with the same nomenclature of which I have a few of them left, but they fade and I have almost replaced all of them. I have to say my newest is the Diawa something,something 100 and is my go favorite with the Cabelas Prodigy a close second and I do believe they are the same reel just the Diawa is a touch smaller than the Cabelas as I estimate it is the 200 series.
So to answer your question...The mag brake is a great feature to switch lures on the fly and minimize backlashes. The non-mag models have their place and are a great addition when it is setup to a specific lure spectrum. Therefore it can always double as a backup or flipping reel at the least. If you decide you don't want it just call Cabelas and exchange it for their Prodigy and you can have your cake and eat it too.

Ive read on forums that they can be finnicky but I suppose thats all in the skill level of the angler. Having only internal centrifugal brakes it should set up just like a previous generation Shimano with the VBS brakes.

Most reels that don't have the mag brakes, have a centrifugal brake under that cover. Not all, but most. If you have issues, check under there.

Your right! I popped that cover off to get the spool out and there it was clear as day!
MAN, talk about a smooth, quiet reel! Cranks smooth and a drag like butter!
i would never pay full price of $250 for one, but another sale at $100 and i will be buying me another one for sure!
