It has been quite some time since I dropped in at flippers.
In fact the first time for me this winter season.
Anyways went out Friday morning, it was a beautiful morning bright red sky for the Sunrise backdrop, temperature was about 60'f.
Crused over to the steam plant, I was parked and tied off by 7am.
There were two kayak anglers and just one other boat when I pulled in. (Which was a glorious scene)
After chatting a few minutes with the guys that were there only one caught a Striper said to be about 33".
At 7:10am I hooked up with my first Striper in a long time, I was an excellent fight he peeled drag running left, I gained a bit, then he peeled drag right a bit.
A fun fight to say the least 23lbs.
This Fish was a catch and release: He swam away fast and strong.
I'd like to thank the kayak angler for offering, taking and sending me the picture from his yak, however I don't know his name, seemed like a great seasoned angler.
Needless to say that one fish made my morning, I packed up early about 10ish and headed home with a smile on to start the winter season.
Check out my pics, always happy to hear feedback and interact with anglers on the forum.

Thanks for the report. Was anyone catching any skipjack or were they working the top of the water?

Nice fish Salty, stinks you were pulling out as I was paddling in. Kick, very few if no skip jack in the area. Main channel is still really warm.

Thanks for the reply, I never did check my screen for water temp however I did use a fluke to catch him.

No problem at all, yes the Skippys were out there busting the top of the water and people were trying to fish for them, I saw one or two only caught though. Seemed as if they were giving the people trouble to catch them.

Yeah, not much happening during the day. Right at dusk we had a little top water action by the rocks on the right but we could not get any lures to them because of the tree.

That tree needs to be cut down! Lol

Yes, yes it does. I'm amazed it's still standing with as many lures that are stuck in there.

It's a shame we talked about it so much out loud on the forum now, that could have been our secret mission but now we're too exposed lol. But anyone who wants to take the initiative to do so, PLEASE do! :)

Much better to have that tree still standing then to have it in the water in the same place.

Yes, that was the same sunrise I saw Friday morning on my way to Cheatham dam. I thought to myself "If I don't catch anything today, that was worth getting up to see" It was spectacular. Caught a few to boot. Couldn't help but be thankful on the day after Thanksgiving.

Good catch! I'm thinking it is going to be a good year at the GSP, glad to see things are under way already.

100% agree, it was beautiful! Pictures still didn't do it justice as you can probably agree.

Salty, my brother and I were the guys in the red/white Bumble bee trying to catch skips near the white buoys. We only caught 2. Saw another guy catch maybe 3 or 4. We went upriver but didn't catch any stripers. That's a nice one that you caught!
