Heiny57, If I can get it, I will be using live bait with fins of some sort. In this case they were 6-8" gizzard shad.

Aqua, been there and done that. I hate to leave a school but if they don't bite I will. I have come back to an inactive school, say one I found at the beginning of the day and stopped on the way back in and found them still there but now ready to eat. Especially if I'm trolling artificials, then I'm always looking for the active school.

Walt, I was expecting it to be like today so I almost didn't even set the alarm. But then I saw Adrians "Striper Magnet" thread and decided I would go sit in the rain anyway. Turns out it wasn't too bad out.

I'm not sure how I do it, but I still miss fish using 7/0 Octopus Circle hooks. I missed two screaming fish right out of the gate and almost threw both poles in the water before regaining composure. I pay good attention not to set the hook (I've lost enough that way already), just tighten up and reel. They work most of the time but still missing some here and there. Maybe I need to try a different circle hook.

Awesome! I'm glad someone else is just obsessed with these fish as I am :) I don't know what kind of attitude your fish had, but the ones I caught were Fired Up! Like they were on Crack. I thought for sure they were over 40 lbs by the way they were stripping line. This colder water has put some shoulders on these things. It is a Ton of Fun, & highly addictive!

This is the time to be out there. The fish are aggressive and hungry and mostly on the thinner side. They are feeding heavy to put on some weight for winter. If I could, I'd be going every day, eventually they will move on, and this "hot bite" will be just a memory.

I've been fishing from the mouth of second creek, old lock 5, mouth of cedar creek, 231 bridge, buzzard island and rocky creek mouth down to seven mile bluff.

I commented, but maybe I didn't press Submit. Anywho, I've been fishing from Cairo to Barton's Creek. When I go by the house, I'm from Station Camp to Cage's Bend.
