Selling some rods/reels for a friend. The nicest one , I think, is a Lew's SG4-17 made in USA, 7' medium action in very nice shape. I am more of a spinning rod guy, or I would keep it for myself. Anyway, I have no idea how much to ask for it, I know you guys (well most of you anyway ;) ) are honest, so if anyone is interested in it, make an offer. Also a Quantum 441 reel that seems really nice was on the rod. Will sell separately . An old Mitchell 300 that seems to work pretty good, but could use some TLC, a Sears 300 that looks like a copy of a Mitchell, an old Zebco 33 pushbutton that has never been used, and a few other rods and reels that don't look like they'd be desirable. By the way, does anyone know of a charitable organization that maybe takes old fishing gear and fixes it up to give kids or something? I think some of this stuff would be great for that kind of thing. Thanks a lot. G. Lee, wormdunker

Heroes on the Water is a charitable organization that gets wounded soldiers on the water. We are working on starting a chapter here in Tennessee, and it will hopefully be up and running in the late spring/early summer of 2016. I currently work with the Indiana chapter.
We get wounded "whether it be physical or psychological" soldiers on the water in kayaks. It's great physical therapy, but most think of it as just getting out relaxing, and letting their mind at ease. Some want to fish, and some just want to paddle out in the middle of a quiet cove and stare up at the sky or water. We let these soldiers do what they want, and just try to make them feel comfortable. Some want to fish, and some have never fished, and watching their face light up when landing a fish is priceless, it makes my heart smile.

That sounds like a great organization. Let us know when the local chapter gets going. I'm sure some of us would be interested in participating in whatever way we could.
