It was a close one today. I had all but given it up to the skunk. Tried three different spots without so much as a sniff. I was reeling in baits, getting ready to call it quits, when I get a follow up right up to the boat, nice 20# fish. So I still got three rods out, other than that I'm out of bait, I decide to give it another few minutes, easy decision. Bam, fish on. Then another rod goes. Can't mess with it, got my hands full, he gets off. Land my fish, healthy 22#er. Before I can even get re-oriented the last rod goes off and a healthy little striper comes aboard. May of had an outstanding day if I had more bait left, who knows. Was fun either way. Couple of hours of patience testing followed by a Chinese fire drill.

It is funny how it works that way sometimes. Are you fishing on the bottom?

I know. A few years back on Tims Ford, I had spent two hours trying to catch bluegill for bait and only had 2 to show for it. (I know that sounds crazy, but trust me the little buggers were turned off). To make matters worse my wife and her sister had come along hoping to catch some linesides(no pressure). The time had come to say, this is the bait we have lets go fish. By some fishing miracle, they dropped them right on top of a couple of good fish and an 18# and a 12# were landed and everybody was happy. Yes, bottom fishing.
