VFW Lake is a little gem of a TWRA Lake that not many people fish...which is fine by me...LOL. It has some really nice bluegill but only a few know of the quality shell cracker in the lake. I have caught them out of there up to 14 inches....but one can get into a lot of 8-10 inch shell cracker. Today I was headed to Pickwick but due to time constraints decided to fish at VFW...glad I did. I caught these fish where I have caught a lot of shell cracker in the past......and they were in there today. I had several dozen like in the pics. They were caught on a Bison colored Trout Magnet on a 1/16 ounce jig head with #8 hook using 2# test line and my favorite JDM rod....the Tict Ice Cube Rockin' Drift UL 6' 9" with upper section being solid graphite.....made for micro soft plastics.....so for me it is the perfect rod to fish the Trout Magnets. I was using the twitch method keeping lure as close to bottom as possible. You know the Trout Magnet is a great lure when one starts buying fishing gear that is tailored to the Trout Magnet. It was a great day of drag pulling fun....life is good!

Thanks....Most of the time in the fall there is another good shell cracker bite like in the spring....although it usually occurs October/November time frame. My boat should be ready for the water after Labor Day weekend. You can bet I will be hitting up the shell cracker areas on Center Hill during that period....along with VFW Lake also.
