I set my alarm for 1AM. I woke at 11:30PM and just got up.
When I arrived at 2:40AM, it was a gorgeous 62 degrees. Only one person milling about asking me, "Where are the rockfish?" I said probably not here and he drove off. I wondered how long he had been waiting for someone to come along with rockfish information.

Immediately I caught a few small browns, 4 walleye and a crappie. The fog was vicious. At exactly 4AM, something hit my bait. I knew it was big but didn't realize how big till it leapt 3 feet into the air, silhouetted against the blue moon. The fight lasted about 10 minutes. I was shocked when it finally slid into the net. It was off my measurement board but I guess 23-24 inches. It was a fat as it was long with the jaw starting to hook. Just gorgeous. I took one photo and got he back in the water. She swam off slow but confident.

Caught around 12 more after that, another decent sized brown and a smattering of walleye and rainbows.

I was out of the water by 8:30.

Who needs sleep when you have the fog and from deep within screaming drags and flying fish?

That's a beautiful fish! I've had some great trips there this Summer at night but lately I've been in a lull there. I fished Friday night hoping the blue moon would turn things on for me but it was rough. I lost a decent Brown, caught a few tiny Walleye, and one Spot. I was off the water by 11pm.

I know some like the 250cfs sluice opening but it seems to me that I've had significantly better outings with it off and the water still somewhat high but falling. If I do another evening outing there I'll look for those exact conditions. The sluice may work well for some folks but if I know what works for me, I'm sticking with it. The trip I made the weekend before the blue moon resulted in only one fish to mention, a PB Brook at 15.5". Not a monster but big for a Brook.

Again, great looking fish!

I kind of agree. I think down river it makes it better but in or near the pond a little more challenging. I like the dead calm, only the falls adding a smidge of current.

Saturday night was the best it has been in a long time for me .

Didn't used to like to fish at night but no people and peaceful. Might have to buy night goggles and fish exclusively in the dark.

Once the sun comes up, the river is literally flooded with kayaks and canoes.... and Yey-hoos.

Great fish lupan! That's a toad.

Jimmy that's a heck of a brook. They have been tough to come by for me this year. I've only hooked two and didn't land either one.

I must say I'm a fan of the additional 250cfs though.

Great looking fish there, I fish up there more at night also for those reasons. I use only artificials though, you using minnows or crawlers?

Little of this, little of that.... you know.
I use artificial and bait.

Let's just say the smaller the better. Rod- the bigger the better.
looking for a 12 foot noodle.
