Creek wading recommendation

Can anyone recommend a good creek for wading about middle TN area, closer to Nashville the better. I would like to try smallie fishing but I'll take what bites!

Mill creek, although I haven't fished it in years, was always surprisingly fun. I have fished it around Nolensville, and around Antioch, and down around the Murfreesboro Rd area, and caught some decent fish. I have no idea how it fishes these days, but it is probably worth a try for sure.

Try the Stones River around Murfreesboro. A pedestrian greenway follows by it so access is easy.

Is there an ideal spot for acess from the stones greenway in the boro? I see a couple promising spots on Google maps, just curious if one is better than others?

There are multiple areas to access it. I don't know what promising spots you are looking at to give you the help you need. I used to fish those stretches pretty often and might be able to give you some insight.

Thanks guys, so many creeks/streams around here and sometimes they aren't easy to get to or find.

That's why you're not going to get them named in a forum. The good ones are hard to come by and are kept secret. You're going to have to do some trial and error hunting but you'll find one. There are lots of creeks running through public TWRA land around Percy Priest. Go hike through the woods and you'd be surprised what you find. I found a really nice one last Winter while rabbit hunting.

Thanks guys, I agree I need to scout more to find my own honey hole. I knew no one would share their spot and I can't say I blame that..the next thing you know there will be 10 or more fighting over a hole. Again thanks for the tips and pointing in a direction.

Off the topic of close by creeks. I'm really interested in checking out yellow creek, very nice looking areas there.

Go to Walmart or a bookstore and grab a copy of a Tennessee atlas/gazetteer then cross reference what you find with google earth.

Alex, gret recommendation. I use google earth to scout all my fishing locations. The time machine options comes in very handy when looking back at winter draw down on lakes and finding deeper structure.

I thought I was the only one who did that! I use the time machine all the time.

Another good use for the time machine is aging ponds.
Whenever I find a new pond, I gi back a few years to see how long it's been there.
I want a pond to be at least 8-10 years old if possible, long enough to grow a 10lb bass :)
Obviously there are other variables besides the age of the pond, but that one is important to me.


Another good map source to complement the Delorme Gazeteer is the Sportsmans Connection Middle Tennessee Stream Guide. They are sold at most Walmarts and it comes for West, Middle and East Tn.
