Wished I could help. Haven't been there for probably 30years. Used to go every Easter weekend. I would like to go back with my fly rod about the first of May thru mid May. We always caught lots of nice sunfish. We used UL spinning, very small bobbers and Ice fishing jigs tipped with bee moths. Fished about 18" deep and cast right into the cypress tree roots. Lost lots of terminal tackle but caught lots of fish too. Never bass fished it. I would also like to hit the lilly pad beds in mid summer with some hair bugs. Have fun. It used to be a great lake to fish and probably still is.

people drop crappie poles over the side of the duck blind while hunting up there. Loaded with crappie. Great place to ruin a prop though-better off renting a boat up there. They usually come outfitted with a shallow water prop extension or some sort of skid plate underneath the prop

Best way first time is with a guide. They have the right boat and know where to fish. Might be hard to get one at this late date.

Looks very fishy, but that can be deceiving! Opt for 1/2 day guide if you can

Just pray that the wind doesn't blow because it can be a bear if it does and a guide is a great idea if the fish haven't moved up on the knees.

went there one time about 12 years ago. i dont remember what lodge or bait shop we stopped at but there was board walk about 10-12ft off shore winding thru the trees....snakes ALL OVER that board walk, all over the surface, in the tree's!!!!!. Caught a ton of little yellow bass off a dock (no snakes on this dock).
Aint been back since.
I mention im not a fan of snakes???? LOL.

Blue Bank Resort is where I go when I plan to fish. They aren't cheap, but your room comes with a boat, bait, and ice.
I would definitely do as others have said and hire a guide for at least half a day.
