Nephew and I fished Nickajack today and it was a bust. Didn't catch the first crappie. No one was fishing there today either....which tells me at my spot the crappie have not turned on in full force yet. If they had been would have been a ton of boats there on a nice day like today. I did catch a nice 12 inch shell cracker before we headed home. Well that put the bug in me that I wasn't going home without catching fish somewhere. Dropped my nephew off in Murfreesboro and headed to Williamsport. Tried out Shell Cracker Lake today and found the crappie stacked up all across the dam. I made 29 casts and caught 26 crappie. To my amazement every fish was a legal fish.....I measured each one. That is the first time I have had that happen in the past years fishing there. I didn't think they would ever get to the 10 inch mark in numbers due to the over stocked situation with the crappie there. So for those that fish Shell Cracker Lake, and want to keep 10 inch crappie go and take a limit out to help thin them out. My lure of choice today was a Bison colored Trout Magnet on SOS 2# test line. Many of these fish were literally 2 feet off the bank. They were at all depths in the water column. The water is stained with about 12 inches visibility.....temps ranged from 54-60 degrees. No bluegill or shell cracker were caught at Williamsport. They should show up any day. Wound up the day with a little fun with the ultra light.

That stinks about Nickajack, we have a cabin up there this weekend:mad:. Without giving away your spots what would you be looking for to try to find them or should we bite the bullet and drive over to Chickamauga? I've bass fished there before but never crappie.

By the weekend it could all change. But I do know the crappie bite is real good at Chickamauga right now. I'd fish around the docks at Nickajack if I could.
