It's important to budget properly for your fishing gear.

Switch the top and bottom then we're good. I can get pretty hungry after fishing. :)

Looks about right. I am trying to get better about not buying more fishing gear that I don't really need. I organized everything the other night and made a list of tackle I will need for this year, it's amazing I only need a few things. less than 50 bucks.

Trust me I know how it all starts. Tackle wise I don't need much. 2 bags of D-bombs, backup frog, buzzbait and a chatterbait along with a couple bags of swimbaits. I also need two more casting reels and a new spinning set up...... so that blows the 50 bucks out of the water.

Or you could be like me, I need four setups of everything minimum. Sometimes more.

At last count I had 54 rods and reels, innumerable tackle boxes full of everything needed to catch crappie, bass, hybrids, big stripers, maybe a marlin or two, and trout.

My next purchase will be a "smart troll" system so I'll know exactly what depth my umbrella rigs, my crappie crankbaits, my bucktail jigs, and my T-rigs are trolling.

No more wondering why my umbrella rig got hung up when my downrigger ball is set at 21 ft, I'm in 50 FOW and the treetops are only coming up to 26 ft. It seems the umbrella rig sinks another 6 ft when it is 75 ft behind the boat.

Plus, general wisdom (obviously NOT from SAMBOLIE or XxthejuicexX) would have us believe that the fish mostly look/see up so if you are fishing below them the bites are greatly reduced.

Thankfully I have a very understanding wife who has stated to me innumerable times, "You worked all your life so when you retired, you could go play and have your fun".

Fellas, a lady like that is extremely difficult to find. If you've got one like her, do whatever it takes to keep her.

This is why around our house, I can and do cook, I babysit our 5 year old daughter, I clean the dishes after meals, wash the pots and pans, and clean up the table. I am not asked to do it, it is just what I do to show my appreciation to her.

Heck, I've even been known to do laundry, wash, dry, fold. I make beds, I dress and feed the daughter on the mornings she goes to school and I am not out fishing.

Keep the lady happy....she'll keep you happy!

I haven't needed much in several years. I decided to keep track of purchases last year, and wow, that was an eye opener. I showed Sarah and she was surprised also. I also did it for guns/ammunition, alcohol, archery and cigars also, in order from greatest spent to least. I was going to do eating out, and she said STOP, STOP, STOP that she'd already seen to much:eek:

Good lord, I would be scared to even look into how much I spend on all that stuff.

I agree 100% with this statement. I also cook, clean, make beds, laundry and anything else that needs done, and she does yard work if I'm going 70hr weeks at work.

I have a wife who lets me do what I want, when I want with no complaining. I know I have a special person who puts up with my crap, I know I'm not an easy person to get along with all the time.

X2

I do the yard work all of the time and help with the other things around the house when I can. My wife works part time so she has more time to accomplish things around the house. You hit the nail on the head with the second paragraph, how I found her and why she puts up with me I am still not sure :)

No that's girlfriend. There is no wife budget since "what's yours is mine" and all right? The trick is not to let the wife know about the g/f budget

But, if you do away with that part of the budget that's more fishing money!
